i was hoping this course would help. i bought the book a course in miricles. fucking juedao based dogma. im sorry i have this big problem with the god thing. sorry i figured it was more inlitened than that.

I get that you're upset... but it's only because you DO NOT UNDERSTAND what The Course is really about... you saw the word "God" and made up your mind...
...and that's about as silly as saying a FIVE-STAR RESTAURANT serves garbage... after you sat down at your table and tried to eat the menu!
The truth is, you have it EXACTLY BACKWARDS.
The Course is as far from dogma as you can get! In fact, it is ANTI-DOGMA...
Please pay attention! I'm your friend showing you something that traditional Christians are FURIOUS about... because they want Christ to be something he is not... and Christ is saying "Wake up! All you have to do is learn how to replace your thoughts of fear with thoughts of love..." and they crucified Jesus for saying the simple truth: YOU DON'T HAVE TO THINK THIS WAY ANY MORE... LIGHTEN UP!!!
The Course is BLASPHEMY to traiditional Christians because Jesus is literally TELLING YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW if you want to get free of all the bureaucratic authority figures in your life telling you you NEED the governement to run your life... and you NEED the church to get into heaven.
That thinking is for little children who are afraid of learning what it takes to direct one's own life... by bringing our THINKING up to the level of CHRIST THINKING! Do you get it? If people saw Christ as teacher and brother who is here and now, teaching universal truths so that ANYONE can achieve freedom (that's what Christ-thinking really is, after all)...who would go to church and listen to the dogma any more?
NO ONE!!!
Traditional Christianity stands to lose its main selling point, since Christ himself is saying IN THE COURSE that if you want to experience heaven (freedom), then you have to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the THOUGHTS YOU THINK.
GET IT?
That's what The Course is about. Period. Getting free from fear.
And guess what? IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IT IS THAT IS TEACHING THE COURSE! UNIVERSAL TRUTH IS UNIVERSAL TRUTH, MY FRIEND!!!
So, I highly recommend you take another look at it...
BUT FIRST GO TO MY WEBSITE and buzz through it... IT'S INTENTIONALLY WRITTEN (lots of graphics, too) TO BE HUMOROUS AND CHALLENGING... and hopefully it will give you a better perspective on how The Course will actually benefit you.
That's that The Course is about...GETTING FREE FROM FEAR... if all you ever do is get free from fearing the word "God"...!

Tue, November 27, 2007 - 7:13 PMokay well its not just "god" its the whole language of atonement and hims and sons ect ya see? then i went back to it and im trying to see the language in a way that i can get. the whole judeaoxtian thing just gets me. i am so surrounded by it down here under the bible buckle that it freaks me out. and i have never embraced the whole xtian thing im not racialy linked to that part of the world.i find christianity befouled. however i understand that the vast majority of folks understand the language of the biblicalusage so they may come to this truth easier in a language they can understand. i am also seeing how the course is alot like the philosophy that i had while hitching. i am trying its just hard to set my mind not to be prejudiced against the words. i know they are words but they hold such a strong hold on me . i am trying and thank you for your patience. gorma -

The thing is, we're both "wounded" from having been steeped like a teabag in the hot water of the religious South, my brother. For so long I just rolled my eyes at all the crackpots and loud-mouth religious nutballs who were just attracting attention to themselves "in the name of Christ."
All that is EGO stuff... don't let that distract you away from the ESSENCE of the message, which is basically this: We've learned all the wrong ideas about who and what we are.
The real beauty of the LESSONS of The Course is that once you start doing them (just the first few lessons reveal how the mind works!), you soon get that it's just we ourselves who give MEANING to the words we read or hear... and once we understand that simple fact, we can begin to UNDO any false understandings that we accepted into our mind when we were young and trusting and impressionable... but didn't know any better except to agree with the people who were feeding us. And if we DIDN'T agree, what happened? Right! Anger and punishment!!!
That's what drove me out of the church early on... all the TALK about love but I just saw hypocrites who just played church as a "game" without any sincere spirituality.
I really liked what I learned later on when I studied Buddhism, Taoism, and Hinduism... even Sufism... but ultimately what I noticed was that I was LOOKING for the parts that made sense to me... the connections that made my Christian heritage valuable to me once again...
But what it really took to get my attention was my life coming apart at the seams in my early 30s... I won't go into the gory details, but trust me... I was really effed-up... with nowhere to turn for help. That's when someone handed me The Course and said DO IT... stop running from yourself and just DO IT.
So I did. I was fortunate that the person who gave it to me knew my background... and so they told me not to be concerned about the use of masculine gender...or the word "sin"...which literally meant "an arrow that missed the mark." So I got that sin = error. No biggie. And salvation = enlightenment. That worked just fine for me at the time. At least enough to GET STARTED and plow through it for a couple months until around the second month something really interesting started happening: My life started to ease up on me... I was clearing out the crap... replacing the anger with forgiveness... and thinking of ways to be truly helpful rather than just what I can get out of a situation or a relationship for my own gratification.
I began to serve others with joy... and the joy was returned to me x 10.
Just STAY WITH IT... don't let a few emotionally charged words STOP you from receiving the benefits of this world-class mind training course!
And keep my website bookmarked. If you haven't read through it all, keep going back to it... there are a lot of pages... fun stuff... just KEEP AT IT... and you will find yourself in a lighter, higher state of mind after a while...
It's worth it, I guarantee it!

Wed, January 16, 2008 - 5:47 PMi am not burdened with any christian up bringing so books and lessons that speak to that dont get across i keep trying but i just dont believe in some of the foundations of the lessons and i may try to keep looking at it but with out the overstanding and thread of the xtian base in my thought i might as well be reading the new republic -

Unless you accept the fact that YOU DID NOT CREATE YOURSELF, you are destined to live a life that is not only pointless but also entirely confusing and miserable... until you align yourself with the Will of your Creator, whose will for you is PERFECT HAPPINESS.
This is what you have been born to find out. No one can figure it out for you, but you have been given certain people (myself included) who are here to serve as guides and helpers.
Look: don't get hung up or side-tracked on labels or names... what matters is that you find a way to REPLACE thoughts of anger and attack with thoughts of love and forgiveness... and PRACTICE them until you respond AUTOMATICALLY in a positive way whenever events occur that normally piss you off and you find yourself in conflict again. It will happen again and again until you get your uncontrollable "puppy" TRAINED...
Are you open to it?
Can you see the connection to being your own "puppy trainer" ...? Your untrained ego is HARD-WIRED to resist any spiritual understanding... ego DOES NOT RECOGNIZE SPIRIT!!! You, however, have a deeper intuitive feeling that spirit exists, yes? FOLLOW THAT INTUITIVE LEAD!
Short version: Until you train your ego (the untrained puppy) to get with "the program" with YOU as its DIRECTOR, it will be the same for you as the TAIL WAGGING THE DOG... with nothing but arguments, confusion, and resistance for the rest of your natural life on this earth.
Can't say it any more plainly or lovingly as that, my brother.
My loving advice: Just DO it... no matter what your argumentative ego says... JUST DO IT. You'll thank yourself for doing the right thing, I guarantee it.
